A Message From Chillington Health Centre
November 2020 Update available Here.
We are doing our best to provide a service to our patients, despite the considerable pressure we are under. The way we operate will change, depending on how the situation develops.
For information and advice on your health, we strongly encourage patients to:
Download the NHS app: IOS – Android
Use our website: wwww.chillingtonsurgery.co.uk
Use NHS 111 online: https://111.nhs.uk
This will help us to look after you when you really need it.
For the latest coronavirus advice, please visit www.nhs.uk/coronavirus
The advice is being regularly updated.
PRESCRIPTIONS
The elderly and vulnerable should call 01548 580371 to arrange prescription home deliveries. The Health Centre requires plenty of notice as there is a weekly or fortnightly delivery schedule.
If your need is more urgent you can, alternately, ask us to help arrange a collect and delivery for you.
Waste & Cleansing Services
Our waste and cleansing services are mainly operating as usual
This is with the exception of bulky waste collections which ceased on 24 March
Our public toilets are now closed to the public
Household waste recycling centres remain closed
Salvation Army textile banks in car parks are no longer being emptied
We continue to monitor safe working practices with our contractor in line with the Government and industry guidelines.
An additional challenge for our crews right now, is the extra waste that is being put out for collection by residents. We appreciate that, for some, now is the ideal time for a clear out, but please bear in mind that the waste operatives are having to work longer hours to collect it. We ask that any excess waste is stored, whenever possible to help our crews.
Kind regards,
Jane Savage

GOV.UK WhatsApp Service
To ensure communities are receiving factual information during this uncertain time a new Whats App service has been launched, available for free to everyone with the app.
The new service aims to provide official, trustworthy and timely information and advice about coronavirus (COVID-19), and will further reduce the burden on NHS services.
This will help combat the spread of coronavirus misinformation in the UK, as well as helping ensure people stay home, protect the NHS and save lives.
To use the free GOV.UK Coronavirus Information Service on WhatsApp, simply add 07860 064422 in your phone contacts and then message the word ‘hi’ in a WhatsApp message to get started.
The service will also allow the government to send messages to all opted-in users if required.
Transport for Key Workers
Due to the reduction of bus services across the county, Devon County Council are trialling an on-demand subsidised taxi service for Devon residents for key workers accessing employment only.
This service is intended to replace those journeys which were previously made by bus – a subsidised flat fare will be charged.
Requests can only be made by email and should be sent to devonbus@devon.gov.uk
Please include the following information in your email:
NAME, ADDRESS, KEY WORKER STATUS, EMPLOYER / PAYROLL REF
JOURNEY REQUIREMENTS (pick up/drop off)
DCC will aim to respond to all requests as soon as possible during normal office hours – journeys should be booked 48 hours in advance of travel.
